Juventus have been waiting for the likes of Jonathan David to leave before accelerating their interest in a few transfer targets, but that will no longer be the case, Sky Sports reports.

The Canadian is one of the big earners in their squad and has been told to find a new home, but he is reluctant because no top team in one of the major leagues has shown interest in his signature. Since the 2026 World Cup, he has maintained that he will not leave the club and wants to fight to prove he can do well in Turin, so Juve will not be surprised by his resistance.

David refuses to leave Juventus

In fairness to the club, they also wanted him to do well in his second season on their books, which explains why he was given chances to impress during pre-season. However, it was more of the same poor performances from David during those preparatory weeks, and the manager has decided he will not rely on him this season.

David is fighting to stay at Juventus, despite the club’s desire to move him on. His reluctance to leave has created a difficult situation for the Bianconeri, who had expected his departure to help create room for another signing.

The club must now continue their transfer plans without knowing whether David will eventually leave. That means Juventus will have to manage their wage bill while also pursuing the players they want before the transfer window closes.

Juventus accelerate transfer plans

Juve no longer want to wait for David to leave and create space in the wage bill for a new signing. Instead, they will push ahead with some late moves while hoping they can reach an agreement and sell him in the coming days.

This change in approach could be important during the final stages of the window. Juventus have several areas they want to strengthen, and delaying those moves because of David’s situation could leave them without enough time to complete their preferred deals.

The club will therefore continue working on their transfer targets while also attempting to resolve David’s future. His decision to remain at Juventus has complicated their plans, but the Bianconeri are now prepared to move forward regardless.

For David, the priority remains proving that he can succeed in Turin. For Juventus, however, the manager’s decision not to rely on him means the club must find another solution, whether he eventually leaves or remains on their books.

  1. Contracts must be drawn up in such a way that NO ONE can derail Juventus’s plans. If a player fails to prove his worth, he doesn’t play and doesn’t get paid. He is obliged to leave, and if the transfer fee demanded for him isn’t met, he must pay it out of his OWN POCKET.
