Juventus considered taking advantage of AC Milan’s fire sale of players who have been made redundant by Ruben Amorim, with Youssouf Fofana among those asked to leave.
The Frenchman has been one of the most important players in Milan’s team for several seasons and has also established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A. However, he is no longer part of their plans, as the new manager believes he does not fit his preferred profile for a midfielder.
Milan have therefore asked Fofana to leave, creating an opportunity for other clubs to pursue the experienced midfielder. Juventus have followed his situation and Fofana was reportedly hopeful that the Bianconeri would step up their interest in signing him.
However, the situation has now changed, with Juventus deciding against pursuing the midfielder despite their previous interest.
Juventus abandon Fofana pursuit
According to Alfredo Pedulla, the Bianconeri are no longer in the running to add Fofana to their squad again. They have opted against pressing ahead with their interest and have instead turned their attention towards another midfielder.
The decision comes despite Franck Kessie choosing to reject a move to Turin and join Atalanta instead. Juventus had been interested in Kessie, but his decision has forced the club to consider other options as they look to strengthen their midfield.
Fofana could therefore remain available as Milan continue to look for a solution for the player. Juventus, however, appear to have decided that he is not the midfielder they want to pursue at this stage.
Juventus face race against time
Juve still need to bolster their squad during the remaining hours of the transfer window, and the Bianconeri are doing everything they can to complete their business as quickly as possible.
It will be interesting to see whether Juventus manage to complete all the moves needed to satisfy their manager. With limited time remaining, the Bianconeri face a demanding final stretch of the transfer window as they attempt to strengthen the squad in the areas they believe require attention.
