Palestra’s impressive loan spell at Cagliari has transformed him into one of the most sought-after young players in Serie A, attracting interest from several leading clubs, including Juventus.
Chelsea hijack changes Inter plans
However, Premier League clubs continue to possess greater financial strength than many Italian sides, and Inter were ultimately unable to compete with Chelsea’s proposal for the player.
As a result, the Serie A champions are now searching for alternative options to strengthen their squad before the start of the new campaign.
According to Calciomercato, Inter have shifted their attention towards Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso as they continue their search for a new wing-back capable of replacing Dumfries effectively.
Cambiaso had previously been linked with a move to Chelsea before the London club decided to prioritise Palestra instead. Inter now believe the Juventus player could become an ideal addition to their system because of his versatility and attacking qualities.
Juventus stance could complicate negotiations
Inter are reportedly determined to pursue a move for Cambiaso and are expected to push strongly in negotiations if the opportunity to sign him becomes realistic during the transfer window.
However, Juventus are unlikely to make any deal straightforward, particularly given the defender’s importance within the squad and his continued development since arriving at the club.
The Bianconeri signed Cambiaso for less than €16 million, but his value has increased significantly because of his performances and growing reputation within Italian football.
Inter may therefore need to prepare a substantial offer if they hope to convince Juventus to part ways with one of their most reliable defensive players this summer.
